The First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport invites you, your family, & friends to attend its 2017 “Monday Evening Summer Concert Series” to be held in the church at 141 North St., Kennebunkport. Joyce Painter Rice, Music Director & Organist, the Rev. Paula Norbert, Pastor, & church members are pleased to offer these concerts to the public. While the concerts are free of charge, donations will be gratefully accepted. Each concert will begin at 7:00pm. The first concert will be held on Mon., July 24 and will feature Neal Ferreira, tenor, and Frederick MacArthur, organ & piano.
Neil Ferreira is praised for his “rich, powerful voice” and “bravura-filled stage presence.” Performing professionally in opera and oratorio, Mr. Ferreira was the recipient of the 2012-13 Artist Of The Year Award from Syracuse Opera. He also has appeared with Florida Grand Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival, Virginia Opera, Opera Colorado, Opera Boston, American Repertory Theatre, Boston Midsummer Opera, and Guerilla Opera. Neal holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory, where he studied with opera singer Patricia Craig.
Frederick MacArthur is organist at All Saints Parish in Haverhill, MA., and at First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Cambridge, MA. He is in demand in greater Boston as a recitalist and freelance accompanist. His previous positions in Massachusetts & Rhode Island include at Old South Church, Boston, and Brown University. He has performed throughout the U.S., Italy, Germany, and Israel and has represented the United States four times in the International Organ Festival in Morelia, Mexico. Fred majored in church music and organ at Boston University where he studied with renowned organist George Faxon.
