Monday Evening Summer Concert Series – Roric Cunningham, cellist

The First Church invites you, your family, & friends to attend the second in a series of summer concerts to be held in the church at 141 North St., Kennebunkport, on Mon., July 31^st at 7:00pm. Joyce Painter Rice, Music Director & Organist, the Rev. Paula Norbert, Pastor, & members are pleased to offer these concerts. This concert features cellist Roric Cunningham. There will be some piano accompaniment by Ms. Rice.

Roric Cunningham is from Manchester, NH and recently completed his sophomore year at Central High School in Manchester. He began his musical career on the organ and enjoying great success, Roric began playing the cello at age 12 in the public school system. After being self-taught for 2 years, with the help of violinist Elliot Markow, he gained acceptance to the Manchester Community Music School at age 14 on a full scholarship. There he studied with Harel Geitheim, and has realized that the cello is his true calling. Currently, Roric is the principal cellist of the Dino Anagnost Youth Symphony Orchestra at Manchester Community Music School, is a member of the New Hampshire Philharmonic, and was principal cellist of the 2017 All-State Music Festival. Additionally, Roric has had master classes with cellists Beiliang Zhu and Cecylia Barczyk. He recently made his Portsmouth Symphony debut as soloist after winning their concerto competition for prominent high school students around the state.

All concerts of First Church’s “Monday Night Summer Concert Series” are open to the public free of charge. Donations will be gratefully accepted. 

In addition to concerts and other events, the Rev. Paula Norbert and First Church members welcome you to attend the weekly Sunday church service which begins at 9:30a.m. All are welcome at First Church.

First Congregational Church is located 1.5 miles south of the Seacoast Trolley Museum where Log Cabin Rd. becomes North St. The church is next to Arundel Cemetery, and near the Kennebunkport Historical Society. Directions from Kennebunkport’s Dock Square are Spring St. to a left on Maine St., bear right on North St. and follow North St. to First Congregational Church on the right.
